Brazil enjoys an advantage that almost no other egg producer shares: it grows its own feed. As one of the world's largest corn and soybean producers, the country supplies its vast layer flocks from domestic harvests, insulating costs from the import pressures that destabilize producers in Asia and Africa. The result is one of the lowest-cost large egg industries in the world.

In 2025, that quiet advantage drew international attention. When avian influenza caused U.S. supply to collapse, Brazil — whose commercial flocks remained largely free of the virus — shipped record volumes of eggs north, briefly becoming a key stabilizing supplier for the American market. Egg exports, long a secondary business beside Brazil's far larger chicken-meat trade, suddenly gained prominence.

Domestically, prices continue to move with the real, with corn harvests and with seasonal demand; Lent reliably lifts egg consumption. Eggs have also been gaining ground as rising beef prices push protein-conscious Brazilian consumers toward cheaper options.
